Friction - a pinning problem

deutsch

The Bloch walls in a thin NiFe film are pinned at the sites, marked by arrows. Between the pinning centers they are attracted by the energetically favorable domain in the center.

Friction can be considered in terms of a pinning problem. During the sliding process, certain surface atoms of the two bodies come into very near contact, so that a small amount of atoms of body A are pinned on body B.
