The real time computation consists of two processes, where the first one computes the
adsorption and desorption of gold atoms on a carbon surface.
The second process computes the actual STM image, taking all informations from the first process.
The adsorption and desorption of the gold atoms is computed by means of Kramers
reaction rate theory in order to compute transition probabilities and an additional random generator.
From the simulation you may see, that the gold atoms prefer to decorate the steps of the graphite
substrate.
