The project “Interactive Nano-Visualisation in Science and Engineering Education ( IN-VSEE)”
develops visual material for the teaching in classrooms in the form of models and multimedial
learning modules. The goal is to take over a leading role in the teaching of Nano technology
and to create a “Learning Community” among colleges situated in the whole world. The project
wants to forge links between teaching and research on the one hand and between scientists and
the public on the other hand. The development of learning units follows three basic paradigms:
1. “Concepts across disciplines,” which means an interdisciplinary teaching with comparable
concepts such as the reproduction of surface area structures. 2. “Visual based learning,”
which means learning through a comprehensible approach by means of intuitive visualisation
and facilitated construction of cognitive patterns. 3. “Discovery based learning,”
which describes playfully discovering connections and phenomena, by independently
carrying out experiments in practice for example.
In the framework of the project, predominantly computer based learning modules are
developed and are furthermore evaluated and corrected in exchange with teachers and lecturers.
